How writers can Tackle Procrastination

Procrastination is one of the problems, writers face, in their writing career. It has the potential to derail your writing career. When you procrastinate, your task piles up for days. Below are ways to tackle procrastination :

 

1. Do not wait for the perfect condition: When you wait for the perfect time to write, sometimes activities will come up that will take over the time or when you try to wait for the perfect quiet time. You keep procrastinating. So, try to Write at any given time, when the idea pops up in your head, put it down on your note pad. This way, you will progress more in your writing.

 

2. Set a goal : You can set up a goal to achieve a task with your writing. It does not have to be a great goal, set up small goals for your writing project. This is particularly useful when writing research work.

 

3. Have an Accountability partner : You should try having an accountability partner, this can be a friend, a writer. Your accountability partner will call you at a  certain time of the day to find out about your progress each day. This will help you battle procrastination.

 

4. Find a new place : If you are finding it hard to work at home because of distractions . You can go to a library or a co-working space where you can go to work without distraction. 

 

5. Plan for the next day : Planning for the next day can be helpful with fighting procrastination. When you note down the topics to write about the next day and the time you need to write these topics. It helps you stop procrastination and makes you organized.
